Scriban or secretary chest in the Louis XVI style from France. This piece is made of mahogany wood that has been ebonized and finished with a lustrous French polish. There are two doors that open to interior drawers. The top fake drawer drops down to reveal a leather covered writing surface and three dovetailed drawers. All of the trim and hardware is brass and the chest sits on four tapered, brass capped feet. This classical piece is covered with a dark grey veined Turquin marble slab.
