Chandelier from the iconic Vistosi studio on the island of Murano outside of Venice, Italy. This fixture has a brass structure with exaggerated curved canopy. From the brass structure, chains of Murano glass waterfall downwards. Each strand is made of multiple hand-blown Murano glass elements in a tangerine orange and white. The rings are held together with brass hardware. The glass rings are made using the sommerso technique, which layers the glass to create multiple colors per item – in this case the tangerine and white. This piece has been newly wired to fit US standards. It is in excellent vintage condition – the photos accurately depict the condition of the chandelier.
Tracing their roots in glass making to the 16th century, Vistosi is an important name on the island of Murano. It has continued to be a family operation, passing down their techniques and designs for centuries. They continue to create striking and innovative designs with hand-blown Murano glass, and their vintage pieces are especially prized.
