An elegant and unusual French Louis XVI style buffet/sideboard, circa 1880, finely crafted in mahogany and distinguished by its architectural form and gently projecting rounded sides.

The upper section of this "serving cabinet" incorporates three dovetailed drawers with finely cast gilt-bronze circular pulls and escutcheons. Below, a pair of beautifully fluted tambour doors recede laterally into the case, revealing the interior while preserving the clean lines of the façade.

Particularly attractive are the open side compartments, each fitted with inset marble shelves and bordered by delicate pierced brass galleries. The bar cabinet is crowned by a white Carrara marble top and raised on elegant fluted Louis XVI legs terminating in brass sabots.

A sophisticated and highly functional piece of late 19th century French cabinetmaking, with particularly pleasing symmetry and an unusual combination of display and concealed storage.

This buffet is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
