The generous oval upholstered seat rests above a finely carved gilt wood frame with a classic fluted frieze. Six slender fluted legs are embellished with carved floral rosettes at the corners and joined by an unusually graceful shaped stretcher, giving the piece both structural presence and architectural interest.

The original-style gilded surface has developed a warm, nuanced patina that beautifully emphasizes the carved details. Particularly appealing is the combination of the elongated oval silhouette with the disciplined geometry of the base, a sophisticated expression of the Louis XVI aesthetic.

A versatile and highly decorative piece, ideal at the foot of a bed, in an entry hall, dressing room or sophisticated seating arrangement. Presented in very good antique condition with desirable age and patina.

This bench is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
