Impressive Louis XVI style desk with a beautiful black leather writing surface. Leaves pull out from either end for added length, and each leaf is also covered in the black leather and adds 12.375" to the length of the desk. The leather is embossed with a gold leaf frieze framing the writing area, and also features a gold leaf embossed decoration in the center. The desk is made of mahogany that has been ebonized and finished with a French polish for luster. There is brass trim throughout, as well as capping the feet and tops of the legs. All four tapered legs are supported by brass casters. There are three drawers on the front, two large on each side, flanking one long central drawer. The center drawer has a working lock and key. The back of the desk has a faux facade, with brass hardware. This large desk is in excellent condition and has a striking presence!
