Elegant French Louis XVI provincial bureau plat crafted in solid oak, with a beautifully restrained neoclassical design. The generous writing surface is inset with deep green leather, framed by the warm-toned oak and complemented by fine brass trim. Two dovetailed drawers are incorporated into the apron, retaining handsome brass hardware.

Raised on four slender square tapered legs terminating in bronze sabots, the desk has particularly graceful proportions and a light architectural presence. A sophisticated yet understated example of French provincial craftsmanship, equally suited as a writing desk or library table.

This desk is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
