An elegant and unusually designed French Louis XVI style buffet or sideboard, late 19th century, crafted in mahogany, ebonized, and finished in a Museum quality French polish and enriched with finely detailed gilt-brass ornamentation.

The buffet is surmounted by a substantial white Carrara marble top with delicate gray veining, following the distinctive profile of the cabinet and its gracefully rounded sides. The façade opens through two central doors to reveal practical interior shelving. The buffet also features 4 dovetailed drawers.

Particularly appealing are the curved exterior side sections, each incorporating an open display shelf bordered by a delicate pierced brass gallery. These architectural details give the piece an unusual lightness and make the sideboard especially attractive when viewed from an angle.

The upper frieze is punctuated by finely cast gilt-brass rosettes, circular motifs and geometric mounts, while the vertical supports feature elegant rudented fluting (cannelures rudentées), a refined detail associated with the French Louis XVI Neoclassical vocabulary. The fluted tapered legs continue this restrained architectural treatment.

The deep ebonized finish provides a dramatic contrast to the white Carrara marble and warm gilt-brass accents, creating the sophisticated black, white and gold palette so characteristic of fine French Neoclassical furniture.
