An exceptional French Louis XV style bureau plat, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century and in the manner of François Linke. The richly figured rosewood parquetry case is distinguished by an abundance of finely cast and chased gilt-bronze mounts, characteristic of the finest Parisian cabinetmaking of the period.

The shaped writing surface is inset with a handsome tan leather top and edged with a substantial gilt-bronze molding. A series of drawers is incorporated into the serpentine apron, embellished with elegant ormolu handles and escutcheons. Graceful cabriole legs are particularly well articulated with elaborate gilt-bronze chutes, foliate mounts and sabots, giving the desk a luxurious yet remarkably balanced appearance.

Presented in wonderful condition, this is a sophisticated and highly decorative bureau plat with the quality, proportions and exuberant bronze work associated with Linke's celebrated production.

This desk is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
