Secretary, drop front desk, from France, of Mahogany in the Louis XVI style. This cabinet is finished in a lustrous museum quality ebonized French polish. There are two lower doors with working lock and key that open to interior shelving. The drop front is lined with an original burgundy gilt embossed leather that serves as a writing surface. There are three small dovetailed drawers inside as well as shelving to enhance the work space. A dovetailed drawer for storage is found above. The entire piece boasts gilt brass trim and hardware. The secretary is topped with an intact Carrara marble slab.
