Secretary from France from the Directoire period. This piece is made of solid hand "hewned " mahogany with a striking figuring on the drop front and sides. It has been finished with a lustrous French polish of museum-quality. The case piece has bottom doors that open to interior shelving. The drop front opens to an original leather covered writing surface and interior compartments with 8 dovetailed drawers. There is also an upper dovetailed drawer. All locks and key are in working condition. All of the hardware is gilded  finely cast brass. A Carrara marble slab, original, sits atop the secretary.
