A striking Spanish Modernist sunburst mirror dating to circa 1990, combining giltwood, black glass, brass and antiqued mirrored glass in a bold and highly decorative composition.

The circular central mirror is surrounded by a hand-gilded frame and a broad architectural band of deep black glass, punctuated by slender brass divisions and decorative brass studs. Radiating from the perimeter is a rhythmic series of rectangular antiqued mirror panels, each framed with gilt detailing and displaying an intentionally distressed, beautifully mottled silvered surface.

The contrast between the reflective antiqued glass, glossy black elements and warm gold tones gives the mirror exceptional depth and graphic presence. Its strong circular geometry and radiating design reinterpret the traditional Spanish sunburst or starburst mirror through a distinctly late-20th-century Modernist aesthetic.
