Buffet from France from the Directoire period, the piece was in the main Salon of a famous French Restaurant in Vienne (Rhone Valley) ”La Pyramide.” This architectural sideboard features tapered sides which makes it very elegant despite its spectacular size. The Neoclassical enfilade is made of solid cherrywood construction. The buffet was patinated with a traditional milk paint in light Trianon gray and black colors. All locks and keys are in working conditions, the four drawers feature finely cast bronze hardware. Each of the four doors features a cartouche of the young Roman god of wine and life pleasures “Bacchus”, an emblematic choice of decor for a region in the heart of some of the best vineyards France has to offer (Côte Rotie, Condrieu… etc.) and surrounded by Roman Remains. Flanked by five pilasters the doors open up to ample storage with strong shelving. This piece is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
