French chest of drawers or commode in the Louis XVI style. This chest is made of solid wood construction, primarily mahogany. It has been ebonized and finished with a lustrous French polish of museum quality. The original brass hardware and gilt brass trim can be found throughout. The pulls feature a draped effect and images of a man riding a lion. There are four dovetailed drawers, and the lock and key are in working condition. The case piece is supported by tapered and fluted legs with brass feet and trim. This chest supports an intact veined Carrara marble slab top, also original. This chest is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
