A striking antique Venetian lantern, circa 1920, featuring a beautifully blown glass body in an unusual smoky amber hue, held within an elaborate hand-forged iron framework.
The generously scaled, softly lobed glass form is particularly elegant, its subtle smoke coloration lending warmth and depth while remaining wonderfully translucent. Delicate scrolling ironwork follows the contours of the glass, creating an intricate cage-like structure with distinctly Venetian character. The contrast between the refined hand-blown glass and dark patinated iron gives the lantern a wonderfully atmospheric presence.
A highly decorative example of early 20th-century Venetian craftsmanship, equally compelling illuminated or unlit. It has been newly wired to fit US standards. This fixture is in nice antique condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
