A whimsical and exceptionally decorative bespoke wall sconce from the Jean-Marc Fray collection, bringing together an antique French bronze bras de lumière with contemporary hand-blown Murano glass.

At the heart of the composition is an extraordinary cast bronze hand, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Finely modeled and richly patinated, the hand emerges from an ornamented circular bronze backplate and appears to delicately hold the light itself, a poetic reference to the historic French tradition of the bras de lumière.

We have reimagined this antique element with a luminous hand-blown Murano glass sphere in a soft opaline white. Rising dramatically from the globe is a sculptural branch of vivid coral-red Murano glass, individually formed by Venetian glass artisans to evoke the organic, branching silhouette of Mediterranean red coral.

The result is both surreal and sophisticated: antique French bronze, Venetian glassmaking and contemporary decorative design brought together in a single sculptural object. The contrast between the aged golden patina of the bronze, the softly glowing opaline Murano glass and the brilliant red coral creates an extraordinary jewel-like presence on the wall.

Produced exclusively for the Jean-Marc Fray collection, each sconce incorporates an antique bronze element and therefore possesses its own subtle variations in casting, patina and character. The hand-blown Murano glass further ensures that no two examples are precisely identical.

More than a source of illumination, this is a sculptural wall light and collectible decorative object, equally compelling illuminated or unlit.
