Writing desk from France in the Louis XVI style. This piece is made of solid wood construction, primarily walnut. The desk has been finished with a lustrous French polish of museum quality. There are three dovetailed drawers on the front of the desk, each with brass hardware pulls. The top of the desk is covered with an embossed black leather enhanced with a gold-leaf frieze. The tapered legs are capped with finely cast brass feet and brass casters. There are additional leaves on each side that pull out for added functionality and workspace. This piece is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
