A superb French Restoration period chest of drawers, circa 1830, distinguished by its spectacular burled walnut veneer, exceptionally rich in figure, depth, and movement. The beautifully book-matched grain across the drawer fronts gives the piece a particularly luxurious and dramatic presence.
The chest is surmounted by its intact white Carrara marble top; providing an elegant contrast to the warmth of the walnut. Four drawers retain their original finely cast gilt-bronze hardware, including refined circular pulls and escutcheons that beautifully complement the restrained architecture of the case.
A particularly handsome example of French Restoration cabinetmaking, combining remarkable timber, elegant proportions, and excellent original details.
This chest is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
